Dr. Swadhin Mandal’s work has been highlighted in a monthly magazine“Chemistry World”

Dr. Swadhin Mandal and Dr. Rahul Banerjee, from the Department of Chemical Sciences, have been awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award of CSIR for 2018.

Dr. Swadhin Mandal has been invited to join the editorial advisory board of Inorganic Chemistry

Dr. Swadhin Mandal of DCS has been awarded the CRSI (Chemical Research Society of India) Bronze Medal in recognition of his contributions to research in Chemistry.

Dr Rahul Banerjee has received an industry (From GAIL) project titled "Bulk Synthesis and discovery of porous COF materials with remarkable chemical stability for Methane storage" with a sponsor value of Rs. 1.2 Crores.

Comprehensive report on the research findings of Dr. Sayan Bhattacharyya and his students is published by the news paper The Hindu.

Dr. Sayan Bhattacharyya's group now have their publication in Nature Communications.

Dr Raja Shunmugam along with ADO Additives MFG PVT. LTD. has developed a complete solution regarding detection and removal of Arsenic from water and subsequent disposal of arsenic contaminated remover.

Introduction

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research - Kolkata was founded in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India and one of the first departments to be established was the Department of Chemical Sciences (DCS). From the beginning, the Department has incarnated the Institute's mission of excellence in both research and teaching. The DCS has appreciable strength in the core areas of physical, organic and inorganic chemistry as well as in interdisciplinary research areas at the boundaries with physics, biology, earth science and materials science.
